On the advice of Hans Thoma, he went to Kronberg im Taunus, where he initially founded the "Keramische Atelier Kronberg am Taunus" within the Kronberg painters' colony, which was later relocated to Karlsruhe and led to the founding of the "Großherzogliche Majolika Manufaktur". In addition to his highly acclaimed ceramic works, his paintings were also highly recognised and can be found today in the Badische Kunsthalle Karlsruhe, the Kunsthalle Mannheim and Mannheim Palace, among others.
