Wilhelm (Willy) Lucas (1884 Driburg - 1918 Partenkirchen) View of Munich with a view of the Theatine Church (St Kajetan and Adelheid) Impressionist veduta painted in a broad, fast, soft-pastose style, enlivened by numerous figures in the street. Lucas studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1904 to 1906. He was influenced by German and French Impressionism, particularly Claude Monet, especially as he had spent a long time in France before the First World War. He spent a long time in France before the First World War. This brightened his colouring in the following years, and colours and light played an increasingly important role in his works. He also travelled to Holland, Italy and Sweden between 1912 and 1914. His best and most beautiful works include views of Munich, Düsseldorf and other cities.
