Wohl Salzburg um 1410/1420 Madonna mit Kind Holz, dreiviertelrund geschnitzt, auf der Rückseite abgeflacht und ausgehöhlt. Ältere farbige Fassung, in Teilen übergangen. Auf Vorderansicht gestaltete Muttergottes, die das nackte Jesuskind mit Trauben in seinen Händen seitlich über ihrer Hüfte hält; in der rechten Hand präsentiert Maria einen Apfel. Die im Kontrapost stehende Muttergottes zeigt einen gleichmäßigen S-Schwung sowie ein in Schüsselfalten und seitlichen Faltenkaskaden herabfallendes Gewand und ist zu den sogenannten "Schönen Madonnen" aus den Jahrzehnten um 1400 zu zählen. Der Vergleich mit einer wohl in Salzburg oder Böhmen entstandenen und um 1410 zu datierenden "Schönen Madonna" im Düsseldorfer Kunstmuseum (Inv. Nr. 1934-8) erlaubt, auch unsere Skupltur entsprechend zu beschreiben. Bestoßungen mit nur geringfügigen Verlusten. Plinthe mit radialen Rissen. Höhe 106 cm. Partially overpainted older polychromy. A figure of the Virgin and Christ Child designed for a frontal viewpoint. The Virgin carries the Christ Child over Her hip whilst He holds a bunch of grapes in His hands and She offers Him an apple. The gently swaying pose of the Virgin which creates an S-shaped curve, the deep, rounded hollows of the drapery, and the cascades of fabric to either side of the figure mark this piece as a so-called "schöne Madonna", or "beautiful Virgin", of the International Gothic style, to be dated to around 1400. The work's similarity to a figure of the Virgin presumed to originate in Salzburg or Bohemia in the Düsseldorfer Kunstmuseum dated to around 1410 (inv. no. 1934-8) allows us to suggest a similar attribution.
