This wine-tasting vessel is not a cup for drinking any beverage. It is an object that symbolises membership of a group of oenologists who do not just use the tastevin to taste wine, because in oenology, all the senses are involved. The first thing to do is to observe the wine, turning it slightly in the container to admire its consistency and fluidity. Then we study its colour, and what better mirror than yellow gold to reveal the warm colours of the beverage. Then comes the nose. At room temperature, or by heating it slightly and placing the object on the palm of the hand, the smells mingle and slowly reveal the wine's top and middle notes. Finally, it's time for the tasting. First of all, the wine reaches the lips and its texture begins to reveal itself. The liquid is skilfully sucked in, given oxygen so that it reveals all its power and body. This expertise in taste is complemented by the mastery of gold-working by one of Belgium's greatest master jewellers, a supplier to the Belgian Court.
