Lot no. 379
WW1 1913 PATTERN REMINGTON BAYONET WITH MATCHING SCABBARD.
Ca. AD 1917.
A Pattern 1913 bayonet made by the U.S. firm Remington under contract to the British War Department in February 1917. These bayonets were originally made for the P14 Enfield rifle, but could also fit several American guns including the fearsome Model 1897 Trench shotgun. Bayonets made by the Remington firm were appropriated by the American Army in the spring of 1917, making British First World War examples much rarer.
Size: 580mm x 80mm; Weight: 730g
Provenance:From a central London collection, previously from an English East Midlands collection.
