XENON WARE CUP WITH A SWAN Ca. 400 - 300 BC. A black-glazed pottery cup with a light yellowish-tan painted design. The central motif depicts a bird, likely a swan, in profile. Two handles extend outward and curve towards the body. Horizontal tan-painted bands encircle the cup just above the flared base. Size: 45mm x 70mm; Weight: 40g. Provenance: Property of a central London gallery, previously acquired on the Dutch art market; previously acquired on the Belgian art market; Hugo Lievens, Brussels 1982.
