Lot no. 16
ZERO Heinz Mack Untitled. 1972. colour silkscreen on wove paper coated with silver foil. 61.5 x 47 cm (70 x 50 cm). Signed, dated and numbered. - Some minor rubbing to the motif in places. Very good overall. Brilliant impression of the composition against a reflective background with narrow margins. One of 500 copies. - At the centre of the present composition by Heinz Mack is a flower-shaped, geometric pattern composed of densely arranged, organically curved grid lines. In their fan-like arrangement and through subtly varying density and colour, these lines create an almost relief-like, constructive effect. The reflective background lends the picture additional spatial depth and brings it to life through the interplay of light and movement. Mack's serial works from the early 1970s are dedicated to the relationship between light, space and dynamics. The repetition of geometric elements is reminiscent of visual "energy fields", in which the flower motif appears both organic and constructed - a characteristic moment of the ZERO aesthetic, in which abstract forms function as carriers of light and movement. The floral allusion lends the composition a poetic dimension without leaving the conceptual framework of serial constructivism. The serigraphy thus becomes a meditative intersection between organic growth and geometric order. Colour silkscreen on wove paper.
