ZOLA Emile. Nana. Paris, G. Charpentier, 1880; in-8, [4]-524 pp. in navy blue half-maroquin with bradel corners, smooth spine, gilt head, untrimmed, first cover. First edition. One of 325 numbered copies on Hollande paper (no. 324). A unique copy with an abundance of original illustrations: 13 Indian ink or sepia washes outside the text and in the margins of more than 100 pen-and-ink drawings, including many curiosa, by Henriot. Henriot, father of the writer Émile Henriot, contributed to a number of satirical newspapers, including Triboulet, Journal Amusant, Charivari and L'Illustration. In 1905 he founded a satirical newspaper, La Baïonnette. The frontispiece is dated [18]83 - Spine unstained, corners slightly rubbed, nevertheless a very pleasant copy. Carteret, II, 482.
