Signed hand-written letter from Zola to Gustave Bourdin "to my colleague and my friend".
It was through Gustave Bourdin, a journalist and son-in-law of Figaro founder Hippolyte de Villemessant, that Zola obtained the literary section of the newspaper L'Événement, founded by Villemessant.
Original cover and spine soiled, handwritten note in pencil erased on the flyleaf, light foxing on a few leaves, transfer of the mailing on the title page.
