First edition. - Nissen ZBI 4378 - Horn/Schenkling 23870 - Hagen II, p. 277, no. 238 - Junk (1912), 3808 - Ownership note by Annie Milton on front endpaper. - Binder's label on rear endpaper. - The only work by the English entomologist and archaeologist John Obadiah Westwood (1805-1893) on Indian butterflies and other insects. Westwood was among the first entomologists to be employed at Oxford University and curator at the Museum of Natural History. His descriptions of insects worldwide were largely based on specimens from English collections. - Spine broken, some pages loose, margins minimally browned, some minimal spotting.
