Nissen ZBI 1896 - First edition. - Separate volume of plates to the three-volume work on crabs and shrimps, which was published in 1790, 1796 and 1804 in instalments and is hardly ever complete. - The carefully coloured plates numbered 1-46 in Roman numerals and in very good condition. Herbst (1743-1807), a pastor and archdeacon at St Mary's in Berlin, was a member of the Society of Friends of Natural History there. - Front inner hinge chipped, minimally fingerstained in places. - Provenance: stamp of the Oettingen-Wallerstein Library on endpaper.
