The voyage reports published in various languages increased the popularity of the Novara expedition immensely. The Novara expedition was particularly important in terms of research results. Initial investigations, particularly on Saint Paul Island (French Southern and Antarctic Territories), the Nicobar Islands and New Zealand, laid the foundations for future geological research. Oceanographic research, particularly in the southern Pacific, revolutionised oceanography and hydrography. The collections of botanical, zoological (26,000 specimens) and ethnological material brought back enriched the Austrian museums. - Part 5: Fish missing. - Foxing.
