He was thus given the title of one of the first ornithologists in Germany and published his work on German avifauna in 1805. In these two volumes, he deals with birds, among other things, but also covers other animals from all species and habitats as well as ethnological topics. The detailed and splendid engravings were engraved by the engraver Johann Christoph Bock, also from Nuremberg.
