TWO SIMILAR GUERIDONS Transition style, Paris around 1860, one signed Sormani Paris 134 Boul. Haussmann, the other signed P. Sormani, 10 rue Charlot Paris on the lock of the drawer (Paul Sormani, 1817-1877). Amaranth and satinwood inlaid with a diamond pattern and frieze. Rectangular "Brocatello di Jura" top, inlaid on all sides in the centre, set in bronze rod, on a slightly cut-out, single-piece frame and curved legs with sabots connected by a rectangular, inlaid intermediate shelf. One with a bronze gallery at the intermediate shelf. Fine gilt bronze mounts in the form of acanthus leaves, fillets and floral wreaths with mesh. To set free. A gueridon with key. 46.5 × 36.5 × 76.5 cm. Good restored condition, minor losses. One marble repaired. Provenance: Private property in western Switzerland.
