TWO SIMILAR TABLE KNIVES OR KNIVES FROM A DAGGER SET
Italian, 2nd half of the 16th century.
Baluster-shaped iron handle cut and engraved with an acanthus leaf and gilt. Inlaid with small, riveted ivory scales. Handle end in multiple baluster shapes. The root of the blade engraved with foliate scrollwork and remnants of gilding. Centre-pointed blade.
L 27 and 28.7 cm respectively.
Gilding rubbed, blades with traces of corrosion. Fine crack on one ivory scales.
