Two allegorical Moor figures on wall consoles made of carved, moulded, gilded wood. Porcelain. On a natural base inlaid with flowers and leaves, a Moor standing on a tree stump wearing a loincloth and a headdress of colourfully painted feathers as an allegory of America. Oval vessel with lid on the side. The relief wall partially framed in quatrefoil recessed reserves with merchant scenes. Polychrome painting with gold contouring. Designed by Johann Joachim Kaendler and Johann Friedrich Eberlein. One lid missing. Partially rest/best; figure h. 19 cm - 20 cm. Total h. up to 44.5 cm. Provenance: Dissolution of an important German private collection - Part I. Two allegorical porcelain figures of a blackamoor depicting America. On gilded wooden wall brackets. One lid missing. Partly restored/chipped. Meissen. Mid 18th century.
