Two small Meissen miner figurines from the "Disguised Cupids" series
A putto standing on a rocaille-decorated, flower-covered plinth, dressed as a miner with a black miner's cap, miner's leather and cherub bag and pickaxe and a miner's maid in a long skirt, holding a hammer in her right hand and carrying a basket filled with ore in her right arm. Polychrome painting with gold staffage. Probably designed by Johann Joachim Kaendler. Minimally rest/best; partial crossed swords mark. H. 9 cm.
