Two magnificent monumental Meissen potpourri vases with a view of Dresden, the Elbe landscape and floral decoration on a square base supported by scrolled volute feet. Baluster-shaped, strongly bulging vase body with rounded shoulder and moulded rim above a stepped, rocaille-reliefed round foot. Hollowed, open-worked lid surrounded by rocaille relief, merging into leaves in relief as the base for a magnificent bouquet of various open flowers modelled in extremely fine relief. Flower tendrils rising in relief at the sides as handles. Finely modelled, applied decoration with lavish festoons of summer flowers and fruit. Below seated Flora and Cupid with a filled flower basket and garland. Above each floating cupid. Colourful flower arrangements on both sides of the wall between coloured scattered flower decoration and a view of Dresden's Neumarkt with a view of the Frauenkirche and a depiction of the view across the Elbe to Pillnitz Castle. Fine polychrome painting with rich gold decoration. Designed by Johann Joachim Kaendler. Minimally damaged; remainder; model no. 2745. sword mark. Meissen, 19th century. Height approx. 65 cm.
