Provenance Vente publique, Les Adelys Encheresm 24/07/2024, lot 276 Collection privee francaise Alabastron en pâte de verre de forme fusiforme allongée, doté d'un col court évasé se terminant par une large embouchure circulaire à lèvre ourlée. Deux petites anses tubulaires horizontales sont appliquées symétriquement sur les flancs du col. Le corps, de profil élancé et effilé, se rétrécit progressivement vers une base arrondie.Le décor constitue l'élément le plus spectaculaire de cette pièce : la surface entière est ornée d'un motif marbré polychrome créé par la technique du verre festonné (feathered pattern). Des traînées ondulantes en chevrons ou plumes alternent le noir, le blanc crème et le jaune-beige, créant un effet visuel dynamique et hypnotique. Ces motifs en zigzag vertical descendent en cascade sur toute la longueur du corps, évoquant des plumes stylisées ou des flammes. La lèvre et le col présentent également des traces de ce décor marbré. An Eastern Mediterranean Glass Paste Alabastron. c. 5th century BCE. Glass paste alabastron of elongated fusiform shape, with a short flared neck ending in a wide circular mouth with rolled rim. Two small horizontal tubular handles are applied symmetrically on the sides of the neck. The body, of slender and tapered profile, gradually narrows toward a rounded base. The decoration constitutes the most spectacular element of this piece: the entire surface is decorated with a polychrome marbled pattern created by the feathered glass technique. Undulating streaks in chevrons or feathers alternate black, cream white, and yellow-beige, creating a dynamic and hypnotic visual effect. These vertical zigzag patterns cascade down the entire length of the body, evoking stylized feathers or flames. The rim and neck also show traces of this marbled decoration.
