Déclinant de haut en en bas, tout au long d’un spectre lumineux assez bien ordonné, une palette de couleurs lumineuses, le peintre parvient ici à figurer les bords de la Seine dans un esprit caractéristique de la peinture moderne en ce début de siècle.  Maximilien LUCE (Paris, 1858 - 1941) 32.7 x 50.1 cm When he painted this view of Paris in 1902, Maximilien Luce had decided to break away from strict pointillism by lengthening his brushstrokes somewhat. Moving from top to bottom along a fairly well ordered spectrum of light, Luce here uses a palette of luminous colours to depict the banks of the Seine in a style that was characteristic of modern painting at the beginning of the century.
