442. Nicolas Didier Boguet (Chantilly 1755-1839 Rome) The Falls of the Marmore signed and dated 'D. Boguet 1810' (lower right) oil on canvas signed and dated 'D. Boguet 1810' (lower right) oil on canvas 74.5 x 61.6cm (29 5/16 x 24 1/4in). Born in Chantilly where he discovered his vocation for painting Nicolas Didier Boguet, attended the Académie royale de peinture et sculpture. In 1783, he left for Italy where he travelled around Rome and the surrounding area, painting, drawing and discovering the great masters in churches and museums. He began to concentrate on landscape painting and from then on spent his summers travelling and painting in the Italian countryside, producing hundreds of works. Boguet remained in Italy until his death in 1839.
