Made in 1971 Tapestry A student of Moralis and Tsarouchis, and a graduate of the Ecole Nationale d' Art Decoratif d' Aubusson, Yannis Faitakis embarked in the 1960s on a bold plan to transfer to tapestry important works by established Greek artists, as well as his own designs. In his Birds fighting-a handmade tapestry made in the workshop of the Royal Welfare Organization using wool, linen, and silk as raw materials-the brilliance of the abstract forms lends lyrical intensity to the composition, creating a magical, dreamlike atmosphere that verges on surrealism.
