A TANKARD WITH A BATTLE SCENE AND A HERCULES HANDLE Historicism, the end of the 19th century/beginning of the 20th century. Gilt bronze. Cylindrical tankard with a circumferential relief depicting a battle (possibly the Battle of Troy). The handle in the shape of a winged dragon, held by a male chimera with a forked tail, presumably Hercules fighting a dragon. The lid decorated with a figure of a trumpet-playing Mars as a boy with a shield, armor and a laurel wreath. On a round red marble slab and a gilt bronze frame on four lion paws. The inside of the frame is monogrammed multiple times A.L.x. H without frame 39 cm, H with frame 51 cm, Ø with frame 33 cm. Bronze, in part tarnished and rubbed. Repairs to the dragon's tail and the trumpet of the figure on top. Similar tankards, but made of porcelain, are known to come from the Capodimonte manufactory in Naples. They have the same relief and painted porcelain decoration depicting a battle scene and the same mounted bronze handle. Jh./Anfang 20. Jh. Bronze vergoldet. Zylindrische Form mit umlaufendem Schlachtenrelief (evtl. Schlacht von Troja). Henkel in Form eines geflügelten Drachens, der von einem männlichen Mischwesen mit gespaltenem Schweif gehalten wird, wohl Herkules im Kampf mit einem Drachen. Deckel mit Aufsatzfigur eines trompetenblasenden Marsknaben mit Schild, Rüstung und Lorbeerkranz. Auf runder, roter Marmorplatte und vergoldetem Bronzegestell auf vier Löwentatzen. Das Gestell innen mehrfach monogrammiert A.L.x. H ohne Gestell 39 cm, H mit Gestell 51 cm, Ø mit Gestell 33 cm. Bronze teils angelaufen und berieben. Reparatur am Schwanz des Drachens und Trompete der Aufsatzfigur. Ähnliche Humpen, jedoch aus Porzellan, sind aus der Manufaktur Capodimonte in Neapel bekannt. Sie weisen das gleiche relieferte und bemalte Porzellandekor mit Schlachtenszene auf und haben den gleichen montierten Bronzehenkel. Diese Humpen werden üblicherweise um 1880 datiert. Dieses mit * (Asterisk) bezeichnete Objekte ist vollumfänglich mehrwertsteuerpflichtig, d. h. bei diesen Objekten wird die MWST auf den Zuschlagspreis plus Aufgeld berechnet.
