The squadron commanded by Admiral Anson had been sent by the King of England to attack the Spanish possessions in South America. The account of his expedition, written from the journals kept by Anson and his officers by the squadron's chaplain, Richard Walter, was first published in English in 1748 and then translated into French by Élie de Joncourt.
It is particularly important for Brazil, Patagonia and the Philippines, but also contains interesting developments on Argentina, Peru, Mexico and China.
A fine copy, nicely bound in contemporary style.
Minor rubbing, one spine cracked, text slightly foxed and a few scattered spots.
