AUTOMATON FEATURING A BOY PLAYING MARBLES France, second half of the 19th century. Probably by Maison Roullet-Decamps (Jean Roullet & Ernest Decamps). A boy playing marbles, made of partly painted wood, with a painted porcelain head and a metal frame, dressed in a red silk blouse, black velvet trousers and wearing a red felt hat. The rectangular base is trimmed with red velvet and contains a wind-up mechanism and a music box playing one single melody. The boy throws a marble into the mouth of the painted papier-mâché Pierrot. The marbles roll back (mechanism defective). 1 winding key. 44 × 23 × 45 cm. Provenance: Collection of Volker and Christina Huber, Offenbach. Marbles replaced. Fabric partly stained and with holes. Murmel spielender Knabe aus teils bemaltem Holz, Kopf aus bemaltem Porzellan und Metallkonstruktion in roter Seidenbluse, schwarzer Samthose und rotem Filzhut. Im rechteckigen, mit rotem Samt besetztem Sockel ein Werk mit Federaufzug, Musikwalze mit einer Melodie. Per Mechanik wirft der Knabe eine Kugel in den Mund des bemalten "Papier-Maché"-Pierrot. Die Kugeln rollen zurück (Mechanik defekt). 1 Aufzugschlüssel. 44 × 23 × 45 cm. Provenienz: Sammlung Volker und Christina Huber, Offenbach. Murmeln ersetzt. Stoff teils fleckig und mit Ausbrüchen. Kleinere Retuschen an Bemalung. Mechanik zu revidieren.
