Lot no. 170
BIÈRE DE RUOMS - "Brasserie du midi" (Ardèche) Glassoïde circa 1950 . Very good condition. 34.5 x 29.5 cm . Printer: "Ets.R.Plas. Paris - Uzerche" on the back. The first brewery in Ruoms, the "H & P" brewery, was built in 1876 on the banks of the Ardèche by Ernest Hugon, a well-known politician, and Ernest Puaux. In 1879, a rival brewery, Brasserie Générale du Midi (BGM), was established, and in 1919, BGM absorbed H & P. In the 1950s, the Ruoms brewery was very dynamic and underwent major expansion. In 1951, BGM took over local breweries such as the Fritz Lauer brewery in Carcassonne. The beer was sold under the sole brand name of "bière de Ruoms". Subsequently, an association with the Zenith brewery in Marseille created the Compagnie Générale des Brasseries (COGEBRA), headquartered in Marseille. It closed in 1967 (Source: patrimoine-ardeche.com)
