Lot no. 61
WOMAN'S BUST
Limestone. H. 43 cm
Egypt, 25th dynasty, circa 700 BC
Provenance
Former Charles Bouché collection, Paris
Private collection, Toulouse, acquired on 29 October 1977
Showing a figure with feminine features, wearing a long tripartite wig that follows the curve of the bust. The ears are open. The eyebrows are delicately enhanced by a slight relief, the eyes are finely drawn with an upper eyelid that can be guessed. The nose, although damaged at the bottom, is clearly sculpted. Some retouching to the nose/mouth area.
There are concretions and deposits on the surface. Despite these few chips and missing pieces, the piece remains in a remarkable state of preservation given the fragility of the material.
An Egyptian limestone bust of a woman. Ca. Dynasty 25, 700 B.C.
