"An essential pre-war car in beautiful original condition
An essential pre-war car in beautiful original condition
- Spring 1919: "Citroën launches the first mass-produced French car" boasts the advertisement! And for 7,500 francs, a price that defied all competition, the "Chevrons" firm offered the 10 HP Type A.
- It was a great success, and 22,700 cars were built by December 1920, most of them 4-seater 3-door Torpedos fitted with electric starters and lighting as standard.
- In June 1921, the Type A became the B2, with a new engine with a cubic capacity of 1,452 cm3 (compared with 1,327 cm3 previously), giving it a top speed of 75 kph.
- It was the last Citroën to feature a mixed wood and steel structure. Both robust and reliable, it contributed to the reputation of the marque aux Chevrons, serving in particular as the basis for the self-propelled vehicles used during the Croisière Noire. Nearly 90,000 B2s were produced in some 25 different body styles.
- Our example is an elegant factory 4-seater Torpédo (the Citroën number plate is still there!), sound and apparently complete. The usual checks and work will need to be carried out before it is put back on the road. Cosmetically, it should be left in its original condition!
- Spring 1919: "Citroën launches the first French mass-production car" boasted the advertisement! And for 7,500 Francs, a price defying all competition, the firm with the Chevrons offered the 10 HP Type A.
- Success was forthcoming and 22,700 cars were built until December 1920, mainly 4-seat 3-door Torpedos, equipped as standard with a starter and electric lighting.
- In June 1921, the Type A became B2, notably with a new engine displacing 1,452 cc against 1,327 cc previously, propelling the whole to 75 km/h.
- It would be the last Citroën equipped with a mixed wood and steel structure. Both robust and reliable, it would contribute to the reputation of the Chevron marque, notably serving as the base for the tracked vehicles used during the Black Cruise. The B2 was manufactured in nearly 90,000 examples distributed across some 25 types of bodywork.
- Our example is an elegant factory 4-seat Torpedo (the Citroën plate is still present!), sound, and apparently complete. It will be necessary to carry out the usual checks and work before getting it back on the road. Cosmetically, it should be left in its original state!
