And for 7,500 francs, a price that defied all competition, the "Chevrons" firm offered the 10 HP Type A. - It was a great success, and 22,700 cars were built by December 1920, most of them 4-seater 3-door Torpedos fitted with electric starters and lighting as standard. - In June 1921, the Type A became the B2, with a new engine with a cubic capacity of 1,452 cm3 (compared with 1,327 cm3 previously), giving it a top speed of 75 kph. - It was the last Citroën to feature a mixed wood and steel structure. Both robust and reliable, it contributed to the reputation of the marque aux Chevrons, serving in particular as the basis for the self-propelled vehicles used during the Croisière Noire. Nearly 90,000 B2s were produced in some 25 different body styles. - Our example is an elegant factory 4-seater Torpédo (the Citroën number plate is still there!), sound and apparently complete. The usual checks and work will need to be carried out before it is put back on the road. Cosmetically, it should be left in its original condition! - Spring 1919: "Citroën launches the first French mass-production car" boasted the advertisement!
