EGYPTIAN BASE OF A STONE STELE OF HORUS ON CROCODILES. Ptolemaic Period, Ca. 332 - 30 BC. A base of a stele carved from greenish stone with a high relief depiction of the feet of the child Horus standing atop two crocodiles positioned head-to-tail, their bodies rendered with grid-incised patterning. The front, back, and underside are inscribed with vertical and horizontal registers of hieroglyphic text comprising formulaic and magical signs. For similar see: Egypt. A.
