EGYPTIAN PAINTED ALABASTER CERIMONIAL JAR. New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC. A ceremonial jar carved from alabaster with an ovoid body and short cylindrical neck. One side bears a large painted image of a spread-winged falcon. The upper register is encircled with a continuous floral frieze depicting stylised lotus columns in alternating hues. On the opposite side, a vertical hieroglyphic inscription is painted in blue, including two cartouches.
