EGYPTIAN WOODEN MUMMY MASK. New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC. A wooden mummy mask with a narrow face, prominent chin, straight nose, wide lips, and recessed eye sockets beneath high-modelled brows. The elongated forehead rises into a tall, vertical headdress with rounded corners, pierced at intervals along the sides. Traces of red pigment are preserved on the face, with black detailing accentuating the eyes and brows. For similar see: Christie's Live Auction 1430, Antiquities, Lot. 5.
