EPICHYSIS Black glazed terracotta with ochre and white highlights. H. 15.5 cm Apulia, second half of the 4th century BC Provenance Ex Sotheby's London, On the shoulder scene depicting a winged hermaphrodite, seated, adorned with jewels and holding a casket (cistus) in his right hand. Scrolls. On the rim, a frieze of oves and masks with leonine heads on either side of the handle. An Apulian red-figure Epichysis. Second half of the 4th century B.C.
