Lot no. 61
FIAT 500 L To replace the ageing Topolino, Fiat commissioned engineer Dante Giacosa to design a new, minimalist model (297 cm long) to enable Italy to massively increase its motorisation. The Nuova 500 was launched on 4 July 1957. Equipped with an air-cooled 480 cm3 vertical twin-cylinder engine producing 13 bhp, placed at the rear, it had 2 doors opening from front to rear. In 1965, the doors were finally reversed. Its success continued, and in 1972 Fiat introduced the 500 L, a slightly more luxurious version that was a big hit in terms of sales. In all, more than 3,800,000 units were produced during its career, which ended in 1975. Abarth derived several sports versions. It was also produced in Germany and Austria under the Steyr Puch name, with its own powertrain. This vehicle has been fully restored, both mechanically and in terms of bodywork. As a 1971 L-series, it has a new rectangular dashboard and bumper reinforcements. It can travel any distance at the pace of la dolce vita. The vehicle is currently under Italian ownership. Importation of the vehicle into Switzerland is included in the sale.
