Georges Blanc is an icon of French gastronomy, having combined tradition and innovation throughout his career. Born in 1962, he graduated top of his class from the École hôtelière in Thonon-les-Bains before travelling as a steward with Air France. His career took a decisive turn when he joined the family inn in Vonnas, where he took over from his mother in 1968.
From then on, he transformed the traditional inn into a luxury establishment, emphasising a lighter cuisine, without excess butter or cream. In 1981, he was awarded the prestigious third star in the Michelin Guide, consolidating his reputation. He was also recognised for his talents as a sommelier, achieving an exceptional score of 19.5/20 in the Gault-Millau in 1985.
Georges Blanc diversified his activities by creating a "gourmet village" in Vonnas, including restaurants, shops and even a heliport. He is also known for having cooked for the G7 in Lyon in 1996, illustrating his status as a renowned chef.
In 2019, he was also recognised by the Gault & Millau "Toques d'or" academy, underlining his lasting impact on the world of gastronomy.
