GNATHIAN EPICHYSIS WITH LEAVES MOTIF. Ca. 320 - 280 BC. A ceramic epichysis with a flaring foot and a convex body surmounted by a broad, overhanging disc rim. A long spout with a pinched mouth extends at an angle from the shoulder, and a looping handle connects the rim to the upper body. The vessel is decorated in white, red, and yellow added pigments, with a frieze of alternating upright and pendant lanceolate leaves around the shoulder. The neck is vertically ribbed in white, while the base of the body is adorned with a white scrolling wave motif, bordered by fine linear bands. For similar see: M.
