RED-FIGURE HYDRIA Black glazed terracotta with red reserves H. 31 cm Magna Graecia, Apulia, second half of the 4th century BC Provenance Private collection, Toulouse. Acquired in 1978 from Galerie Moreau, Toulouse On the belly, the decoration shows a woman, dressed in a chiton, seated towards the right, holding a casket. In front of her, a naked young man, crowned with laurel and draped with a cloak over his arm, holds a bunch of grapes and a shrub bearing berries. On the opposite side, a large palmette. Minor crack across the widest part of the body of the vase. Beautifully preserved. An Apulian red-figure Hydria. Half of the 4th century B.C.
