Planter.
The frieze is decorated with bucrania and leafy garlands, bordered by a lotus motif in relief, resting on three sphinxes with paw-shaped feet, set on a tripartite base.
This planter is a reproduction of a Roman prototype found at Pompeii, now in the Museo Nazionale in Naples (L. Pirzio Biroli Stefanelli, Il Bronzo dei Romani, Rome, 1990, p. 155, fig. 110).
Bronze with green patina.

Possibly by J. Chiurazzi, late 19th century. A patinated bronze jardiniere. Cast after the antique, this jardiniere is copied from the Roman prototype found at Pompeii which is today in the Museo Nazionale in Naples (L. Pirzio Biroli Stefanelli, Il Bronzo dei Romani, Rome, 1990, p. 155, fig. 110).
