Three weeks ago, he was in Canada. A fortnight ago, in the West Indies. And the week before that, in the space of three days, he travelled through Europe, the West Indies, South America and Oceania. On 18 September 1987, Jacques Chirac was about to land in Nouméa, five days after the referendum which decided that New Caledonia should remain part of France. The Prime Minister, who has put on a mask and slippers for a few moments' rest, has travelled 48,600 kilometres in 37 hours on board the Concorde. Only one journalist, Jack Garofalo, was on board during this marathon. Back in Paris, the statesman and the reporter will meet again that evening at the Zenith to celebrate the release of Paris Match 2000. "I don't want to miss this," said Jacques Chirac. All lots are priced inclusive of VAT. VAT, at the current rate of 20%, is included in the hammer price. This VAT is recoverable by the French professional. It is reimbursable for buyers from outside the EU on presentation of proof of export from the EU or for professional bidders providing proof of a valid intra-Community number and a document proving delivery in the Member State. The lots are sold VAT (20%) included. The VAT can be refunded to any registered European company which acquired it at auction, provided they hold a valid European VAT registration number ; and can prove the lot has been transported to the company' country of residence. The VAT can be refunded to any buyer residing outside the EU, providing export papers duly signed and cleared by the French customs or by any other member countries' customs service.
