KANAK, New Caledonia. Carved hardwood, reddish-brown patina, woven plant fibres, fibres. A fighting club with a long handle of circular cross-section, the end in the shape of a cagou beak with a protruding eye and a classical Caledonian handle. Late 19th-early 20th century. Length: 72 cm. Length of beak: 27.5 cm. Minor chips and chips, cracks and slight wear. Provenance: Private collection, Yvelines.
