Vase-mounted "tianqiuping" table lamps in monochrome Chinese oxblood porcelain. This lamp was made from a converted porcelain vase dating from the 18th century, with gilded bronze lids. Combining an antique porcelain vase with ornate bronze mounts was common practice in nineteenth-century France, particularly during the Louis XV and Louis XVI revival periods. Many decorative objects and lamps of this type were assembled at the end of the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th century, in response to European taste for exotic and luxurious furniture. 18th/19th century.
