Lot no. 46
LANCIA BETA SPYDER ZAGATO The Beta saloon, the first Lancia born under the Fiat umbrella, appeared in 1972. It was equipped with the parent company's Lampredi-designed twin-shaft engine, which was first used in the Fiat 124 Sport. It was available in a range of displacements from 1.4 bed to 1.8 bed, increased to 2 beds on subsequent series. Based on these various engines, the coupé appeared in 1973, with a shorter wheelbase and completely different bodywork. The spyder was closely based on the coupé, with a removable 'targa' roof and flexible rear window. It is manufactured by Zagato. Only the rear section, the boot and lights in particular, are different. Produced in only around 8,500 units, this is a rare model. It was discontinued in 1984. The model on offer is in an original orange livery and dates from 1976. It is a Series II that still has the Lancia commodos even though Fiat had bought the brand. The car is sound and rust-free. The car drives and brakes, but has only clocked up 20,155 km. It is driven behind a Momo racing wheel. This car makes an excellent restoration base for the discerning enthusiast! The vehicle was not imported.
