LARGE ROMAN INTAGLIO DEPICTING CAPITA JUGATA OF SERAPIS AND ISIS IN HIGH KARAT GOLD RING. Ca. AD 200 - 300. A layered black and white stone intaglio engraved with the jugate heads of Serapis and Isis, turned left. Serapis is shown with thick hair, a beard, and wearing a modius; Isis wears her distinctive crown. Star motifs appear in the background. The intaglio is set in a recessed oval bezel on a wide, tapering 20.5 kt gold hoop. The ring is possibly later. Reviewed by Sami Fortune, an ancient jewellery specialist. For similar see: G.
