Meissen tea caddy with miner's decoration Rectangular body with rounded shoulder and short, cylindrical neck. Overlapping lid with stylised pine knob. The wall decorated with various scenes from the lives of Saxon miners. On the front, in a rocky, tree-covered landscape, a miner standing between barrels instructing a poch boy, on the back depicted miners unloading ore. On the narrow sides a miner spreading the pile of rock with a rake or cleaning it with a sieve. Small, colourful bouquets of flowers on the shoulder. Polychrome painting probably by Bonaventura Gottlieb Häuer (1710 - 1782). Moulder's mark for Johann Daniel Rehschuh (active from 1723) or Johann Christoph Pietzsch (active from 1732). Replaced lid; old, abraded mount; crossed swords mark. H. 13 cm.
