PAIR OF GREEK SILVER PHALERAE WITH GORGONS. Ca. 200 - 100 BC. A pair of silver phalerae, each circular in form and centred with a repoussé medallion depicting a frontal gorgoneion with large eyes, arched brows, a broad nose, and full lips. The face is framed by stylised serpentine curls radiating outward, with small ringlets indicated along the lower edge.
