Lot no. 16
A pair of blue and white Chinese porcelain "xi-xiang-ji" dishes. With an underglaze blue floral mark on the base. The centre of the plate depicts two figures elegantly dressed in traditional Chinese garb, standing in a landscape. One of them is holding a folding fan and they appear to be engaged in conversation. To the right, a small architectural structure houses a seated figure playing the qin. The background includes stylised clouds, trees and plants, typical of classical Chinese art. Kang-xi period. 18th century. D: 23 cm. Small filled chips.
