RED-FIGURE PELIKE Black glazed terracotta, red reserve and pigments H. 27.5 cm Magna Graecia, Lucania, first half of the 4th century BC. Very well preserved. Provenance Former collection of Comte Sevin, late 19th century Private collection, Toulouse, acquired in 1978 The body is decorated on both sides. Side A: a naked young man, wearing a cloak over his shoulders, stands facing left and rests his elbow on a small column. He is approaching a young girl sitting on a throne, wearing a long chiton and holding a mirror. Side B: two draped men face each other, the one on the left leaning on a staff. A Lucanian red-figure Pelike. First half of the 4th century B.C.
