US aerial photographs dated December 1944 comprising original black and white prints marked US31 3864 27 Dec 44 F 24 1 10PC 1030 A 20 000. Numbers range from 1144 to 1158 and 1160 to 1165. Pencil annotations indicate the locations of Villeroux, Beau Plateau, Mousny, Wigny, Berhain, Givies, Frenet, Fond Laval, Mande Sainte Etienne and Senonchamps. Some wear and patina of the items. condition II+. Senonchamps, a small village west of Bastogne in Belgium, played a strategic role in the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944. At that time, it served as a key position for US artillery, notably for the 420th, 755th and 969th Field Artillery Battalions, equipped with 155mm howitzers. These units were essential in supporting the defence of Bastogne against the German offensive. On 20 December 1944, Villeroux was in the sub-sector assigned to the 327th Glider Infantry Regiment of the 101st US Airborne Division. American artillery units were also positioned near the village to support the defence of the Bastogne perimeter in formation.
