RARE GREEK GILT-BRONZE PHALERA WITH TRITONS.
Ca. 300 - 100 BC. A dazzling gilt bronze phalera features the repousse image of three tritons, probably Triton, Poseidon, and Amphitrite. The figures are hammered in an extremely naturalistic manner, with long fishtails and busts of humans. A ridged frame on the border of the medallion surrounds the scene.
