RARE ROMAN ROSSOANTICO MARBLE HEAD OF APHRODITE OF KNIDOS. Ca. AD 1 - 100. A finely carved head in Rosso Antico marble depicting a female deity. The face has soft, idealised features, including deeply set almond-shaped eyes, arched brows, and a full mouth with a defined philtrum. The hair is arranged in thick, wavy locks drawn back from the brow. The back is worked flat, and the head is set on a modern base. For similar see: C. Gasparri, M. A.
