Rare Chinese imperial carpet "保和殿御用". An antique Chinese rug with a deep blue background and intricate patterns. The rug has a symmetrical design, consisting of multiple floral medallions arranged in a grid, surrounded by interlocking geometric motifs. The border is highly detailed, incorporating floral and symbolic elements in shades of gold, red and green. The Harmony Preservation Hall 保和殿 (bǎo hé diàn) is one of the three main halls in Beijing's Forbidden City, located behind the Hall of Supreme Harmony and the Hall of Central Harmony. Historically, it was used by emperors for important ceremonies and banquets. The expression "imperial use" (御用, yù yòng) indicates that this carpet was specially designed for use in the Forbidden City, probably on commission from the imperial court during the Qing dynasty. 18th/19th century.
